My name is Morteza Mirzaei, and I’m a Master’s student in Computer Science at McMaster University, working under the supervision of Prof. Jake Doliskani. I obtained my Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology, where I was fortunate to be advised by Prof. Ahmad Nickabadi. Nowadays, I’m focused on theoretical computer science, quantum computing, and machine learning.
I stumbled into programming back in 2014 while I was still in junior high. During a summer internship, I found myself knee-deep in ActionScript, trying to build a Flash game that taught kids how to read and write. At the time, it felt like an odd way to begin—teaching the alphabet one buggy line of code at a time. But seeing that simple game come to life—and watching kids actually enjoy it—sparked a lasting passion for programming. It may have been a basic project, but the thrill of creating something fun and functional hooked me on coding ever since.
I’ve always been drawn to the complexity and creativity of system-level and embedded programming, where you can dig deep into the inner workings of technology. I love taking on projects that push me to build from the ground up, whether it’s developing an operating system or tackling other system-level challenges.
Outside of work and school, I stay active with swimming, running, and calisthenics, and when I’m looking to unwind, I enjoy getting lost in a good book.
